Susan R. Massey
Susan utilizes her knowledge of medicine and her skills in legal analysis and writing to assist clients in resolving complex medical malpractice and product liability matters. She believes that preparation is the key to a successful outcome: If we can anticipate and counter our opponent’s every factual and legal argument, we are in a position to accurately advise our clients and to vigorously defend the case.
After years of intensive care nursing, primarily in the Surgical ICU and Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU, Susan came to Cleveland to attend law school at Case Western Reserve University. During law school, she served as an editor of the law review. In 1992, she graduated summa cum laude and Order of the Coif. Following graduation, Susan clerked for the Honorable Michael S. Kanne of the U.S Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. There she learned much about the appellate process and refined her legal analysis and writing skills. Returning to Cleveland, Susan worked for four years at a large law firm providing trial support for complex product liability and medical malpractice cases and developing a successful motion/appellate practice in a variety of types of cases.
Shortly after its founding, Susan joined Moscarino & Treu. While continuing her medical liability and appellate work, she expanded her practice to include a plethora of legal matters. Susan also focused on appellate work, successfully preserving trial victories and summary judgments. After a few years off to start a family, Susan is happy to be back at Moscarino & Treu and has picked up where she left off -- working to get clients the best result possible.
